under 2300lbs, rear wheel drive would get my attention. I'll take any drivetrain they want to produce as long as it has 250 horsepower. Why so much? So that I don't have to modify the car's engine and fail emissions to achieve that number.

Of course.... being Honda, it will weigh 2950lbs, be front wheel drive and have a 200 horsepower engine. Basically the same thing as a Civic Si, Acura RSX, TSX, etc.

This concept looks promising but when we're dealing with Honda "sports cars" I'll believe it when I see it.

Hybrid sports cars make more sense than Gas sports cars. norsairius is correct, all of an electric motor's torque is available from 0 rpm upward, which is why the all-electric Tesla Roadster is so fast (that and it is light-weight for a street car) Electric motors do make some cool sounds of their own. I was racing some electric carts last weekend, I think when you cram on the brakes and the high pitched whine comes to a sudden stop it sounds like an F1 car down-shifting.

As to the design, I think this is really cool looking even if it is only a colored-in sketch. It does bear some resemblance to the Mazda Kabura concept. Here's hoping it's RWD.....

it may very well make sense. electric motors are better than normal petrol engines because once they are turned on, 100% of their power is available from the get-go and onward, as opposed to gasoline engines where you need to get higher up in the RPM range to get the most power out of it. so using electric motors in combination with gas engines could work out pretty well, really. it just won't make all the nice sounds that a gas-engine-only car does, at least for the most part. if anything, it'll be awkwardly silent... which is too bad, because I love the sound that some cars make these days.

They'll call it "The Insight II, Electric Boogaloo..."
Sorry, couldn't resist. But this design is not to far-fetched. Imagine the Insight's chassis with the newer, more advanced, more powerful powerplant from the Civic Hybrid. Throw in a tight suspension and you have the next generation CRX that could get 80+ MPG.

Looks like it'd make a good CRX. I'd really love to see that model come back.

These teaser images are more annoying than anything else. You cant really tell a damn thing by them. I like the concept tho. In order to get ppl to make the switch they are gonna need choices like you do w/ Gas burners. Now how about that Diesel Hybrid that gets 100mpg?
