Honda may be skipping out on its press conference at next week’s Detroit Auto Show, but that doesn’t mean the Japanese automaker is completely abandoning auto shows during the month of January. The Tokyo Auto Salon, a show heavy on aftermarket accessories and not to be confused with the Tokyo Motor Show, also begins next week, and Honda has released an early preview of what to expect from the Tokyo show.
Honda’s series of Modulo concepts will dominate the automaker’s stage, with the Sports Modulo S2000 and Fit concepts taking center stage.
Although the S2000 is officially a lame duck, the Sport Modulo concept offers a new twist on the sporty drop top. A new body kit gives the concept a rather unusual look while the interior has been spruced up with some new colors and surfaces and actually looks pretty good.
The Sports Modulo Fit concept will likely be one of the brightest on the Tokyo show floor, but the Modulo treatment also give the economical Fit a decidedly sporty flare. The bright color treatment is continued inside, and even on a single spoke of each wheel.
One of the gaudiest concepts we’ve ever laid our eyes on, the Honda Life Style Study is intended to stir the interest of Japan’s youth – particularly young ladies. However, the rhinestone and pink treatment is more than just a little over the top – at least in our eyes.
In addition to the aforementioned cars, Honda will also be bringing a few other lightly done up concepts which can be seen in the following gallery.
