The 2006 Honda Accord Hybrid will start at $30,990, Honda announced today. The Accord Hybrid receives an extensive face lift for 2006 as well as a host of new features and enhancements, highlighted by a better emissions rating (now AT-PZEV/Tier-2 bin2, previously ULEV-2/Tier-2 bin5), new exterior and interior styling, a power moonroof and more. The 3.0-liter V6 engine with IMA is rated at 253 horsepower (SAE net rev. 8/04) and achieves an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 25/34 city/highway miles per gallon.

You could buy a lot of gas for $10,000 (over the price of the 4 cylinder Accord). Of course you get 90 more HP.

That is pretty crappy milage for a hybrid. I think lightweight materials in combination with european style diesel [ and biodiesel ] would be a much better idea.
A VW lupo gets at least 60MPG ..

I don’t buy my 2006 Accord Hybrid for mileage. I buy it for performance, comfort, looks and emission.
The comparatively better mileage and the regular fuel is a bonus. This is a non-compromise car. Compared with any other car with comparable features it is a bargain.

I was told that this Accord Hybrid had such an amazing set of advanced technologies, that it might even fall just below the civic hybrid in terms of its fuel economy.
Oil at 140 USD per barrel will be a potential reality long before this shiny car hits the junk heap. So, if this technology was as wonderful as hyped, I also question why the milage is so spectacularly disappointing in light of the wonderful engineering work Honda has done on its other vehicles.
I bet many heads in Honda were also wondering the same thing.

I just bought a 2006 Accord Hybrid to replace a 2001 Mitsubishi Diamonte, the Diamonte was a good car had good power and got 24 MPG on the road, this new Accord is a better car hands down, and it gets over 35 MPG on the road.
The Diamonte got around 17 to 18 MPG in town, so far this Accord Hybrid is getting over 25 MPG in town and it is not even broke in yet!
This car is fun and makes you want to be in it. This is my first Honda product outside of a 1989 Honda Goldwing I used to own.
As for Diesels, yep, I have a 2005 Diesel Dodge Ram 3500 Dually that gets 21 MPG on the road when empty and 13 to 14 when pulling my 24′ enclosed trailer. I can also get 21 MPG in town empty with it if I don’t have to stop for every light, but even when I have to stop it still gets a good 18 to 19 MPG in town.
Do I get a prize for having both?
