The timing for bringing this vehicle to the U.S. is appropriate. I can see why Honda is considering bringing this vehicle here. I can’t say that I would buy one. The styling is not offensive, but it isn’t very exciting either. The only thing I totally dislike about the design is the Volvo station wagon/Honda CRV style taillights (although I suppose they do increase the safety selling point of this product). I guess style is not as much of a focus for this kind of vehicle; interior space combined with fuel efficiency would be the priority. I’m not sure it will sell in huge quantities, but it will probably find a nice following of niche buyers.

Looks pretty cool to me, much sportier looking than the crv/rav4/etc.

Some of you guys are so blindly anti-import. It’s competition to the big3, and competition is what pushes companies and individuals to excel and not get fat and lazy. Competition from foreign companies is the biggest reason that American cars are getting better. As a an American engineer, I say bring it on, we can do better. When I see people being so anti-import, it implies to me that US engineers and designers can’t compete. We can and will. Some of you think you’re acting patriotic, but you’re really acting like we’re afraid of the competition.

I think they should keep the 3rd row seating, they are smart enough to make the 3rd row tuck into the floor, albeit it won’t be as comfortable as the rest of the seats. However, If they do keep the 3rd row seating I strongly feel the engine will have to be beefier to match the increased passenger weight because no family wants to come into a situation where they need to accelerate quickly and their “minivan” doesn’t have great response in acceleration & power. As for styling, the current one shown up top is a combination between what was stated (CR-V & Civic) but I do also see the headlights resembling the new 2008 Accord. Overall, it’s a fairly aggressive look for a MPV so I personally wouldn’t mind driving one.

This has been a strong seller in other markets… they’re all over the road out here in Ja. Not a bad ride at all… if you must own a an mpv. The JDM Odyssey is pretty cool too… saw one competing in time attack @ Tsukuba and it was decently quick for a front drive minivan… crazy Japanese. They’ll tune anything.

keny W Rondo is 5/7 and Mazda5 is six. i think every automaker should have one vehicle in this segment. Third row would be useful, but you’d have to plan ahead on cargo

Why? The third row seat would diminish any cargo capacity this thing would have and make the 2.0L engine work even harder than it already has to. Leave it a 5 passenger vehicle and make it a Mazda 5/Rondo competitor and it might do well for itself.

1c3d0g you are so right! Older CR-V (I have both versions the first and the second) not a race cars but very dependable trucklets.

The rear quarter on this car is a replica of R-wagon from M-B and it’s not a pretty sight. I hope M-B will sue Honda, so they will stop copying ugly designs.

I saw the older version last year in Japan and it looked great. The revised rear on this does look a little off but either way it should do good here (considering most new Hondas here look bland) – except for the Fit.
