Honda will show off its all-new 2013 Accord for the first time in-the-flesh at an event early next week. Set to be held at Honda's Marysville Auto Plant on Monday, the event will also mark the start of production of the automaker's ninth-generation Accord.

Although Honda has released pictures of both the Accord sedan and coupe, the Japanese automaker has yet to release technical specs for either model. However, Honda is expected to release full details on Monday.

When those specs sheets are released, we expect to see a new direct-injected 2.4-liter "Earth Dreams" four-cylinder engine. Set to power base model Accords, the 2.4L engine will be available with a six-speed manual gearbox as well as a new CVT. Highway fuel economy for CVT-equipped models should near the 40mpg mark.

Now a rarity in the segment, Honda will continue to offer a V6 in the 2013 Accord. The new mill will likely be an updated version of the 3.5L unit used in the current Accord, although we expect improvements in both power and fuel economy.

A plug-in hybrid version of the Accord will also be offered, but not until the 2014 model year.

Following Monday's start of production, the 2013 Accord should begin arriving in Honda showrooms within the next few weeks.
