The GX cannot be fueled with propane. It only runs on compressed natural gas ( primarily methane).
I own a 2005 GX and refuel at home with a Phill unit. The fuel costs about $1.20 per gasoline gallon equivalent (including electricity costs).
Heating oil is a different fuel than CNG.

if this idea caught on, it would drive up home heating costs like crazy... oil heat is already expensive, so this would kill the natural gas option...

Natural gas rocks. In Europe (especially Netherlands) there used to be a lot of gas powered cars. I drove a gas powered BMW 318i that had two tanks and could switch between the two fuels while driving. You could go close to a thousand miles without stopping at a gas station!
