Honda will unveil the 2007 Civic three-door hatchback this summer, according to a report by Automedia. The car was previewed in concept form as the 2007 Civic Type-R hatchback in February. Prototypes identical to the concept have been spotted in testing close to the German Nürburgring. The base production model is expected to debut at the British Motor Show in July, with sales starting this summer. It’s not known if the car will be offered in the U.S. market. The base models will offer the same engine choices as the sedan. The Type-R, which will be in shown rooms next year, will be powered by a 200 horsepower 2.0-litre DOHC i-VTEC engine. 0-62 mph will be completed in about 6.5 seconds.

Looks great!! I hope they bring the type-r ro thw US market. Seems like a fun car to toss around the autocross track and able to find a parking space anywhere. Not mention fuel economy!!! Sign me up I’ll take two!!

“garner some serious resurgence of interest in their civic line”

Call your local Honda Dealer and see how easy it would be to get an Si in the color you want. California excluded. The entire line sits on lots less than 2 weeks. The Type R hatch would only add to the craze of the newly restyled Civic. I don’t see it coming to US shores though, the coupe is filling the niche. If Ford brought over their Euro Focus it’d compete, and if GM does have the Cobalt SS… but we’ll see what happens.

the cobalt ss is a hunk of junk straight from the factory. focus st from europe is very nice. if the us were to get the type-r, it wont be 200, rather 220 and 240 for the type-rr. the si already uses the 200 hp 2L from the rsx type s.

I respect the performance but it looks like a shuttlecraft from Star Trek. Let’s hope the production model is a little more conservative looking.

I like star trek. LOL. It’s nice looking. Although I’m getting really sick of their acura style now. TL RL TSX and the RSX are getting ulgy for some reason.
