Anyone in the US want to buy a right-hand drive Honda Accord Type R? 2000 plate, Vesuvio Red with 90,000 miles on the clock. This car looks hot,I’d definetly but one,I own a Honda Civic Vti ’99. Which is sortof the same as the SI , runs with 160 horsepower, and im not sure about the torque. But hey, if the car is LIGHT, then it DOESNT need as much torque, Torque is how heavy the engine can pull. My civic beats the hell out of other GTI models from other makers. as well as some ‘american’ musclecars which are around 200-300 hp. Yet you all b…. about the torque?. Get your driver liccence and your facts right before you make yourself look like idiots kiddies. Torque is what truckers look at mainly, because they haul alot of weight. You´re not all so fat that the car needs HUGE torque to move???

-Ill never buy anything other then a honda , PERIOD!

The day the car goes on sale in europe thats the day you can decide on a colour. O, thats also the day u will find out that its maybe around R30 000.00 cheaper than a GTi.
Not that i was even thinking of buying a Gti. Turbo this turbo that. whats wrong, cant the
germans find a better solution for their engines produce power.
Seems to be the trend now a days. Take a engine, then slap on a turbo.

The car looks DIFFERENT! As was said before, it is supposed to look different, not like the ford taurus or the chevy impala-BORING!!! It is cutting edge. I own a 2006 Si(for all the Si haters, this is simply an evolved Si, duh), and it has great gas milage, Awesome acceleration(0-60 in 6.3 sec.), does the slalom faster than the Z06 Corvette, and all without any real torque. Any other cars do this and stay around $20k? Not even the new GTI is as fun to drive(Motortrend magazine, April, I believe). And it is a lot more expensive.
It doesn’t look like all the other cars out there, and thankfully, b/c I would hate to look like all the rest of you american car lover drivers out there-you know who you are. Besides, Honda is arguably the best car on the road as far as resale value! SO, I guess I am glad the rest of you don’t like it, that just means I don’t drive a cookie cutter piece!

i think that car look great. it;s easy to say that car is shit if you drive steel box cars with 300 hp
and 1 to 100 km/s in 10 s where enginers do not care about fuel efficiency, polution … But in Japan are very strong laws about poulution and they made a 2.0 200hp. bacause of that i think this car deserve respect. about design, for you mercedes lovers do not forget that time fly

Cool fuel efficient, reliable to 400 000 KM or more, speed shifting the snot out of it, all while meeting todays strick emissions. My 79 camaro z28 which I’ve owned for 21 years was not all the realable in bone stock form, hard on fuel, hard on traneys, valvetrain, starters etc. The z now has a roof from a volvo and 700hp and can’t compare to the seat of the pants feel. It runs 10′s, all said the ricer Type R should run 14′s or low 15 and it will take it again and again.

I think this is the best looking car to come out of Honda since the CRX. I deplore the “Americanization” of the brand that has happend over the last 15 years. In the CRX years, Honda was a leader, recently they have become a follower.

This car harkons the Peugot and Alfa rally car styling that is huge in Europe (that we can’t get). We now only get the lame ducks with no flavor. Very dissappointing that this won’t be coming to the US (again). I’m 38, drive an Audi S4 and would by this car in 2 seconds flat…

those photos are so scratchy it makes the mesh grill look really jagged when in fact its not .. and wths up with the fugly nose on the blue car. that wing looks kinda odd, and the taillights like they copied+pasted from the headlights. otherwise it looks nice they are incorporating alot of the acura styling into it.. and im sure in black this car wouldnt look as outrageous and some of you make it out to be. @ #1 – see honda s2000, acura integra type r

The new civic type r is a beauty, it looks amazing and even so its the same engine, as the old one which was powerful enough, because its lighter its gonna be one hell of a driving experience, you cant say it looks like its wearing braces, or its got weird grills cos it looks how a sports car should powerful, mean and smooth something that will catch the eye of on lookers, make people say wow and it’ll get people to move out the way, ive always liked the civic type r cos its always been a fantastic car, but its never beaten the golf R32 until now and its certainly a winner over the focus RS id love to own one, and all those who have put too angy looking etc are you insane its a sports car did you never see the lamborghini diablo, paghani zonda even the TVR tuscan mite be really smooth but it looks different, if it looked like any other car there would be no point in it. Honda its fantastic can i have a free 1 plse

“… fun to zip around in for a few hours” with such low torque the only thing this “car” will be zipping is the body bag too this concept.

Don’t get me wrong i like civics I’ve had 2 in the last 6 years. One being a mid 90 v tec that was a fun car!performance wise? no not exactly, i mean face it, it performed a little better than the rest of the civic family, but the thing is i was expecting that. no one was ranting and raving about the performance of that car…. this new type r just doesnt make sense.

Aside from the weird grilles around the Honda logo on the front and back, i dont think it looks bad. The matching fog lights and exhaust pipes are a nice touch, too. A bit too much ricey cladding on the bottom of the car, though, otherwise very nice.

Next time I think that I have a mosquito in my car, I’m going to look around for one of these type-Rs (the “R” is for rice). “It just seems like a bad idea to market a car to people who aren’t old enough to drive.” I find myself in rare agreement with you, Madcapp. This car looks like it should have matchbox written on it somewhere. The back looks like it was ripped from a mid 90′s eclipse and the car appears too short (lengthwise). It has the proporportions of a Scion xA – the proportions appear off, especially for a “sports” car. All of this and the yellow color makes it look like the short bus.

Crazy, the all powerful Japanese actually messed up a car? Naw…. not possible, thier logical, function driven precision minds could not possibly have come up with something that doesn’t make sense….oh wait, just like all thier other cars, they followed the Germans, right into the bad coupe/hatch abyss (C Coupe, BMW 318i)

They should have stuck to copying the 3 series, at least the proportion would have been good.

The interior on this car is just plain ridiculous… as is the exterior.
