Honda builds 189-horsepower lawn mower, world's fastest

It will ensure Honda keeps its \"World\'s Fastest Lawn Mower\" record.

Honda is determined to keep its record for the world's fastest lawn mower. Its latest creation, the Mean Mower, returns with even more power courtesy of a Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade superbike.

The original Mean Mower was created in 2014 by dropping the engine from a Honda VTR Firestorm into a Honda HF2620 lawn mower. With 109 horsepower and 71 lb-ft of torque in a package weighing just 309 pounds, it easily captured the Guinness world record of world's fastest lawn mower, at 116 mph. The speed was verified by Guinness officials at the IDIADA proving ground near Barcelona, Spain.

The new Mean Mower uses an even more potent engine, the 189-horsepower, 86 lb-ft engine from the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade. With that, Honda should be able to easily break its own record.

A teaser video shows the mower equipped with Hoosier racing slicks and a custom tube-frame chassis. As with the orignal Mean Mower, to qualify for the record it still needs to function as a lawn mower, so the grass-cutting mechanism must be maintained.

Honda will likely shoot for another Guinness record attempt, but the date and location have not yet been disclosed.
