Ford has launched an online configurator for its new Lincoln MKX crossover. The site contains five possible price points for the MKX that randomly cycle each time you load the site. Five possible price points are listed. The options (FWD/AWD) are: $33,470/35,045 – $33,815/35,350 – $34,155/35,655 – $34,495/35,960 – $34,840/36,265. The prices only vary by about $1000. Enough to make a difference? You decide…

Although I applaud Ford/Lincoln for their efforts in bringing a more viable option to the sales floor, I think we have a definate case of ‘Too Little, Too Late’

I agree Chris – the Mirano, etc. has run this ground. Even Audi is late to this party. They’ll sell 10,000 on its newness before it’s another marketing history lesson.

Besides, Lincoln is now such a diluted brand with all that Oldsmobile-like stuff they offered in the last decade; it should join Olds.

Start low and work up. Get a strong base and cultivate a following. Then ad a percentage point here and there.

Exactly – start low. That’s what Infiniti did with the FX, and now they’re quite pricey and sure to go up when the FX37 comes out.
