I am pretty sure the Magnuson and Moss act would not apply to this as this is an aftermarket item installed in a very important part of the vehicle. It would not void th entire warranty but probably at least the warranty on the engine and emissions controls.

"GM says installing any such device will void the warranty of its vehicles."

for the largest auto maker in the world ... GM sure doesn't know what the hell it is talking about.

Magnuson Moss Warranty Act.

it's only been around a good 30 years now.

"It's worth it for the style and performance these trucks have. Maybe if more of you fools actually drove one you would understand."

I've driven both the H2 and the H3. The former is an utter joke, the latter less so but still inferior to, say, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, Nissan Pathfinder, or Toyota 4Runner in all practical aspects.

Style? Well, yes, the pretend-G.I.-Joe image is the main draw here. But from the inside, the H2 is a mess of parts-bin clutter. The air vents are from a Pontiac Aztek, the steering wheel from a Trailblazer, the switchgear from a Silverado... and as for performance, well, a Prius actually does 0-60 as quickly as an H2 does, and it's quicker than an automatic H3.

The H3 has a much nicer interior--one of GM's best, actually--but consider this: it has less rear legroom than a Chevy Aveo. It has a smaller cargo area than an HHR. And its towing capacity is weaker than a Jeep Liberty's.

Yes, they can off-road, too, but less than 10% of buyers even *plan to* take their trucks off-road. These trucks are all about image, plain and simple.

Wow,

This is the first time I've heard of someone tampering with emissions control devices to SAVE GAS. Most of the time it's because you want more horsepower at the expense of fuel economy on an older, underpowered sporty car.

Time to stop building those Hummers, GM. How about that 2900lb, slick handling inline-six Camaro I've been wanting? No? Okay. Hope you like having unsold inventory two years from now.

Hummer is the Cadillac of SUV's my friends (Outside of the Slade). It's about riding in style and running over the wannabe's from other brands.

If you are worried about fuel economy, then you are weenie and I deserve to run you down.

Maybe if more people actually were smart enough to buy a Hummer, the brand would continue to prosper and the whole gas mileage argument would go away because so many people would be happy to own a superior GM truck like a Hummer.

Hummer rules!!! All of you eco-weenies out there need to understand that nothing beats a Hummer. Who cares hat the gas mileage is? It's worth it for the style and performance these trucks have. Maybe if more of you fools actually drove one you would understand. Try it sometime before you go buy something worthless like a Lexus or BMW

#6, actually, there is HUGE differance in puttin gin the Vortex and putting in a K&N. The K&N increases airflow while the Vortex deceases airflow (it is a blockage in the intake).

Most vehicles already have a device on them much like this "Vortex." It is the screen on the incoming side of the mass air flow sensor. It smoothes out the flow of the air so that not only does the MAF sensor get a good reading but also so that a uniform air charge goes in to the manifold.

If this is that infomercial peddled POS that fits into air intake than this is a joke. Not only on the part of the dealer, but on the part of the EPA as well. This is no different than slapping on ye old K&N or a cold air intake kit.

GM has nothing to do with this, but rather the dealer(s) in question. What does GM loving or hating have to do with this? If Toyaota dealers were doing this to Sequoias and Tundras, would we be hearing from you negative trolls at all?

I believe the item that they are adding is (or at least similar to) the one mentioned above. A silly idea, that if it really worked, ALL vehicels would have them designed into the intake already, therefore increasing (snicker, snicker) the mileage of all vehicles.

No matter who the car company, or whatever the car, it makes great business sense to increase mileage in any way possible. This item is pure crap.

Is the "Vortex valve" that stupid Vortex "Supercharge your car for 69.95" thing that claims HP gains with similar MPG gains as the dealerships is? If so.... Ha ha ha ha! I gues it fits the Hummer pretty well. Someone who buys a truck like this to pretend to be tough like a REAL soldier should be very happy with the "Vortex Valve" while they pretend to be environmentally concious. Oh, and also, bringing the H2's MPG to 25 MPG on the highways means an increas of around 13 MPG: Fat chance. EPA doesn't rate them, but the auto mags get around 13 MGP on the Hwy out of them.

Voiding the manufacturers warranty is stupid. Anyone who believes the sneaky/lying tactics of a dealer deserves to be kicked, but not mistreated with a voided warranty. They should sue the dealer (and get a free car out of it!!!) This just goes to show that dealers cannot be trusted 99.99% of the time at all.

Now, you have to be a complete idiot to not know that Hummers get bad gas mileage. I like the look of some of them, but have no use for them myself.
