If any of you guys drove the H2 hummer you would understand why people LOVE THEM. We run a Limo service in VAIL, CO and have now put over ONE MILLION miles of 18 H2 hummers from 2003 thru 2006 models.
The cars are UNBELIEVEABLY RELIABLE - we average 13-14 mpg, tires last 60-70k and brakes are good to 100k

When was the last time you drove something that bullet proof?? If HUMMER would only fix the Powersterring pumps, fuel pumps, door panels and
pyut a 6 speed transmission/400hp motor combo like the new Escalade this baby would get close to 20mph onthe highway!!!

wooow!!!!

The FJ and the H3 hardly compete. FJ starts around 21, H3 starts around 29, FJ is a two door with Honda Element doors, H3 is a true 4 door. Both had/have extreme demand at launch, it's just seeing how the FJ sticks around. I'm not sure how H3's sell anymore, but I do see plenty of them on the road.

I don't see why fuel efficiency was brought into this argument. The H1 has been eliminated, but it was diesel only anyway. H2 gets 11-12 MPG average, which isn't horrible considering it's size and brickish nature. H3 is rated at 16/19. And any new product will come in below H3, which means the highway number will more than likely be greater than 20. Some people just have one track minds, don't think, and when you see Hummer, you get giddy about ripping the General. How about a little thought, eh?

Again, stupidity is rampant. I work for Toyota, but I think GM has a great idea. Phase out a vehicle that is not selling well and put something in its place. More power to 'em! BTW, the FJ blows the Hummer H3 out of the water, even at 3K over sticker. Also, my Camry (#1 selling mid-sized sedan 8 of the last 9 years) is a ULEV vehicle and global warming is a big steamy bowl of crap. We need to take care of the planet, but it can take care of itself to a large degree, too. Finally, let the market drive things. It always has, always will. That's why Toyota quit making the Celica and the MR2 Spyder. They weren't selling well!

An H3 pickup is interesting, if they come out with it Jeep will have no choice but to compete and bring out the common rail diesel Gladiator concept.

its not about using public transport its about using only what you have to use and no more. Why take one kid to school in a Suburban when a Camry will do the same job but just use less of everything

If a person really cares about the environment he/she will move to a city, a big city. I’m not playing the devil’s advocate. The more we concentrate people the less their impact on the planet and the more resources we will have for the country as a whole. No Civic is still better than a Civic-hybrid. Sell your car(s), move to a City and use public transport. In the end that’s way Europeans use less gas.

But why use more gas or any of the earth's resources than is absolutely necessary? Its a fundamental difference in attitude between Europeans and Americans. Why choose profligacy over efficiency?

nobody brought freedom into this, not in a patriotic sense. we have the freedom to choose as we wish, sure, and none of us would have it any other way. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, but if someone wants to waste, and can afford the market price to do so, nobody should have any argument.

if some ignorant asshole bought 3000 gallons of gas at pump price, and taped himself dumping it out, I wouldn't think he was an idiot for wasting our precious gas, which none of us actually know how precious it is, we just listen to the bureaucratic bullshit, i would think he was an idiot for wasting his money.

Just because freedom allows you to buy something that uses lots of gas, doesn't mean you have to. Freedom of choice is a good thing, i've never understood it to mean freedom to waste though

Wonder how long it is until the H5 off-road scooter comes out?

Typical GM. Take a good idea and over saturate the market with it until it looses all value and interest. H1 was a good halo for the mark. H2 seems to be the seller. H3 seems to be the aspirational vehicle for those who can't afford and H2. That that is all they need.

Better idea...make the Chevy and GM trucks and SUV more rugged looking. That Impala-looking dash and dull sheetmetal on the new Tahoe is just sad. Cater to the car segment with cars. Cater to the truck segment with real trucks.

if gas hits $10 a gallon, i'm still driving my 07 Tahoe. Great truck! I think gas should be higher anyways! Half of you wouldnt be driving at all, and that means less traffic. Double whammy!

I can't wait to see the price of fuel rise. I bet then every person who has bought a hummer or even toyota FJ will be crying cos the car will cost to much to fill and worth nothing as no one will want to buy these pieces of junks cos they are to costly to run. Should be to funny.

guarantee mrjayrcox has never touched anything remotely off road with his H2(s). Why he needed a newer one on top of that will forever be a mystery.

Seems like a minor product but I’m sure GM will sell enough to make a minor profit. There is always a great deal of wishful thinking on these comment pages. Steve and Kompressor, you both need to open your eyes. GM is not going anywhere. It’s a ridiculous thought to think that the worlds largest auto maker (2nd largest perhaps) is going to declare bankruptcy or splinter. I could care less about GM but I get sick of seeing comments like “see you in the obituaries (#1). It baffles me. Speaking of being baffled: Kompressor, I’m baffled that there are still people in this world that don’t believe we are causing climate change. Open your road atlas. See all the lines? Those are roads. You can’t take an entire pristine pre-Columbian continent, cover it with highways, and expect there not to be a significant environmental impact. Thankfully Kompressor is in the global minority.

I am not a Hummer fan, but only because I'm tired of soccer moms and wanna-be 'bangers thinkin' they're cool. I'll actually give a thumbs-up to anyone that I see driving a Hummer that looks like it has been abused and throught the rough, caked in mud, a few dents and scratches.
Anyway, what I'd like to see is something industrial looking like a Hummer, with true offroad capabilities, and the size of the old Suzuki Samurai. Call it the H5.

Nobody is pimping H1s. An H3 based truck with an I-5 engine would not cause any oil shortages or ice cap meltage and a model below the H3 would be a Jeep Wrangler competitor. OH MY GOD. Those bastards at GM, right guys? You bashers saw the headline and got so excited about typing ignorance that you forget to make sense.

"most bet that every one will be bought. People have their reasons and will vote with their dollars. Variety and freedom of choice are what makes this country great. "

Those that hate SUVs will have another one to pick on. I almost bet that every one will be bought. People have their reasons and will vote with their dollars. Variety and freedom of choice are what makes this country great. The GM bashers and blame America first will have a field day.

Seriously, Hummer needs to stop while its still ahead. The H3 is dumb enough as the overpriced jeep that it is, and they just cancelld production of the H1, so basically it only has one realistic model, the H2. I dont know whos making the dumass choices, but they need to stop

Hey cool! With skyrocketting gas prices, global warming, smog, and poor taste running rampant, this is obviously a genius idea. Well done GM! See you in the Obituaries.
