The Hyundai Genesis Coupe hasn’t even hit the market yet, but is poised to become a successful continuation of the automaker’s Genesis Sedan. Unfortunately for Hyundai , the driving force behind the Genesis Coupe will not be around to see the car’s launch as Joel Piaskowski – Hyundai’s U.S. design chief – is resigning from the Korean automaker.
Piaskowski, 40, headed up Hyundai’s U.S. design operations and was the man responsible for the sleek Genesis Coupe, along with Hyundai’s HCD concepts. Piaskowski joined Hyundai in January 2003, according to Automotive News.

Neither Piaskowski nor Hyundai has given a reason for the departure, and no future plans have been announced by either side.

Before joining Hyundai, Piaskowski worked on General Motors’ Buick , Pontiac and GMC brands, as well as the company’s German Opel division.
