Is it me? Or are people just expecting too MUCH out of Hyundai now a days? This design (interior) looks on par or even better of those of Civics and Corollas. You can’t buy a 15000 dollar car and expect an interior of 30000 dollar Acura. Also this is a PRE-production model, and you can’t judge really anything by this. And those of you saying Hyundai is not a big player, Hyundai is 4th largest in the world ahead of Ford, Honda, etc. You don’t see too many Volkswagen in the road, but they are 3rd largest, all the automakers have their strengths and weaknesses. =P

Fancy? Soft touch? Hyundai interior? Ya. It will be disgusting and vile as every other interior of a car that is this cheap. I wish they hadn’t emphasized it with this Pokemon-manga-toy shapes. Cheap doesn’t have to mean ugly and horrid. It doesn’t show though: IT IS GOD-AWFUL!

People, this is a PREproduction interior. It doesnt have all the fancy soft touch materials normally seen on PRODUCTION models.

The interior is ugly. There is nothing, but pieces of cheap plastic. Why don’t they make the interior look less heuristically ugly ?

I don`t know what the f.aggots in here are going on to yap about, but the interior looks really good to me for a car that is priced to compete against other econoboxes of this segment.

i like it, i mean, sure not the most fluid “fluid design” interior, but much more interesting than most other compact sedan layouts to date (kinda reminds me of Honda’s recent interiors). The fact that its creeping is bothering me. Its already nearly the largest compact (technically mid-size says EPA) on the market, creeping up higher is no good.

2 things to ponder:
1) will the Touring also get a refresh for 2011, or will it remain unchanged until the euro-spec C30w changes?
2) Why the 2.4L? Would make more sense in this crazy world with the 2.0T from the Genesis Coupe. Alternatively say make a 1.6 or 1.8T to keep costs down…and stick it in Elantra, Touring, Accent (SE) , and Tuscon (base model).

The boring Malibu, Camry, Accord sells upward of 100k cars a year, even now when car sales are down compared to the glory years. so what gives?? oh, maybe the way a car looks is not the only criteria people look at when buying cars. hmmmmm.

I think it’s a welcome gear shift from the plain-jane interiors that most cars in this segment receive. You can’t tell me that you’d rather spend the next 3+ years staring at the interior of a Corolla or Versa instead of this? It’s at least DIFFERENT than some others in this segment. Sure, this is quickly migrating towards being the norm, but for now this is (IMHO) a nice change of pace.

Just because you can take spy shots of the interior of an Elantra doesn’t mean you must take spy shots of the interior of an Elantra. You don’t see people hiding in the bushes outside of the Whirlpool factory waiting for a glimpse of their new agitator.

@LLN – FLDR button also are for just plain MP3 players without a hard drive. My GTI had a FLDR and it only read MP3s, it didn’t have a hard drive for them.

This is already a “generic” instrument cluster and “generic 4 door coupe”. Is it me, or it is getting boring already?
