Hyundai has announced that its long-awaited Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec will make its officially debut at next month’s SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Intended to serve as a “blank canvas for tuners”, the R-Spec will fit right in with the aftermarket theme of the SEMA Show.
Based on the 210 horsepower 2.0T Track model, the R-Spec includes a track-tuned suspension, 19-inch wheels, Brembo brakes and a limited-slip differential. However, the R-Spec is just as much about what’s not included as what is, with the package deleting such non-essentials as Bluetooth, automatic headlights, cruise control, trip computer, chrome accents and steering wheel-mounted audio controls.
The reduction in equipment not only cuts weight but also lowers the car’s retail price. At $23,750 the R-Spec is about $3,000 less than the standard Track model, allowing for some leftover cash for aftermarket items.
The R-Spec will be available in Karussell White, Bathurst Black and Tsukuba Red, but a six-speed manual will be the lone transmission choice. The Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec should begin showing up on Hyundai lots in the coming days.
