Navigation systems are useless. Spend few minutes to learn to read a map.

But the rest of the country probably doesn’t have thomas guides.

Awesome. LG and Hyundai are both good quality from my past experiences with each, so this should go over well.

I love the Hyundai products.
The Sonata is better than the American offerings in the class.

The Elantra is taking sales away from Toyota Honda and Nissan

The Genesis will take some buyers away from the Infiniti/Acura/Lexus

The Veracruz beat the RX350 in C & D magazine. Just a couple of fit and finish issues but it beat it

Kia is making great products and are coming out with a big truck and some great crossovers (Hyundai owns Kia )

If they want to move their product up there with the Japanese they will have to offer navigation. There are a lot of people who cheap out on the navigation but a real buyer of a luxo car even an entry level one wants the navigation. If they don’t then they should’nt be buying premium cars. They are the idiots with the Tom Tom’s sticking on their dash. When you buy a car get all the options !

tripleonefive, I agree that the Sonata is light years better than the previous generation Sonata but I don’t agree that it is better than every American car in this class. Although I do think the next generation Sonata will be a class leader. I do think the Veracruz is something special. This is an incredible and important vehicle for Hyundai. I think that is will be the one that moves the brand from “this is all my money will allow me to buy” to “look it’s a HYUNDAI” Kudos Hyundai! KU-DOS!!!

There was a time when I might have agreed with you, but my car now has one. I drive over 20k miles a year, mostly for work, and I have to go places that I’ve never been before, and likely will never return to. They’re great for door to door directions. Navi’s are best, though, for alternate routing in case of construction, accidents, or if you miss your turn.
The real question is if its worth the $ to have an OEM navi, or save the cash for a portable model.

Hyundai is still years behind the pack.

The Sonata is better than the current Malibu the Fusion and the Chrysler Sebring. I would buy the Sonata over all of these cars. They are reliable and Hyundai has the most repeat buyers.That says something.
Im not too fond of the Azera’s styling but i have seen a lot of them on the road. When the Genesis come out hopefully they will 86 it
They have a brand that you can stay with You can start at the Elantra and then Sonata then Santa Fe and then Genesis or Veracruz The nav (for those who can afford it) will seal the deal

Hyundai is still behind if you compare with german automakers, but hyundai’s quality is as good as any japanese or american cars right now. Hyundai is growing
so fast. They might really build a vehicle like audi or BMW very soon.

YOUR opinion the Sonata is better than the Fusion, yes the at of it’s cycle Malibu yes, but the the Fusion no. The Azera is my favorite of all. I think they just need to work on the front end a bit.

Wow… Hyundai finally gets a Nav after all these years and everyone is so joyfully happy for Hyundai. And regardless of what GM, Ford and Chrysler do they get bashed… Wow.

While GM FoMoCo and Chrysler were giving Americans crap and making us feel guilty for buying foreign, Hyundai was improving quality and making better designs. They are positioning themselves for that sweet spot where they can sell affordable and entry level luxo cars without creating a new division. In the meanwhile they are stealing sales from the japs
They are right on time with the Navi, they really did’nt need it before ? Now that they are in the entry level luxo market they do

tripleonefive, the Big 3 never made me feel guilty for buying foreign, probably because I have never bought foreign. Nor did they ever kidnap my family in order to force me to buy domestic. I don’t buy domestic out of some sort of misguided patriotism, nor do I think it’s necessarily patriotic to want to support my own economy, it’s more self-serving than anything. I’ve always said that if the Big 3 ceased to produce even a single suitable vehicle I would buy an import, but then again I’ve learned that I use a different definition of suitable than a lot of others on this site. As far as Hyundai goes, they’ve come a long way and are the best representation of what the Japanese used to be. Unfortunately they seem to be going the way of the Japanese these days.

The big 3 have ceased to make a vehicle for years. The Aura, Malibu, Fusion and Sebring have come too late and still fall short and are light years behind the Japanese.
Hyundai is closer the Japanese as far as quality and sales. If Hyundai is going the way of the Japanese and there is nothing unfortunate about that. They outsell every American car.
Just for the record I rented an Aura in April and my parents 95 Honda with 130k rode better. I do like the design though but that wont sell it alone

if I have a budget of 20k to get a daily driver, the sonata is will be some of my choices.

we use to own a sportage in 97, a few months ago, it was in a accident w/ an explorer who didnt yield. no one was hurt luckily. tht car wasnt bad to travel from dc to NYC cruising, however the parttime 4wd is ****, since we only use it during the winter. tranny at 114k went out, and ran till death @ 122k. they were crap 10 yrs ago, look at them now, they totally changed their image, they have the safest minivans, and the sonata is becoming a huge hit. its good there are ppl like amgoff don’t buy american cars because of patriotism and the economy.
