Hyundai says that the ix-Metro concept, which will debuted this morning at the Frankfurt Motor Show, previews an upcoming small crossover aimed at the European market. Featuring a small displacement gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain, the tall wagon also shows off a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
A 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine with direct injection, variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust cams and a turbocharger help boost power to a reasonable 124-horsepower. Hyundai expects that the powertrain will emit a very light 80 g/km of CO2.
The ix-Metro was designed by Hyundai ’s Global Design Team in Namyang, Korea, and it’s the fifth in a series of concept cars by the automaker.
