Hyundai's current generation Sonata has more or less single-handedly put the South Korean brand on the map in the U.S. since its introduction in early 2010, but as time goes by the inevitable and incredibly crucial redesign is getting closer.

The latest Sonata's provocative styling has been largely credited with drawing the public in to test drive the latest offerings for the brand, which makes the confirmation of a planned redesign in 2014 by the brand's CEO to Reuters all that more important.

Prior to the 2010 Sonata, at least in the U.S. market there was little in the form of exciting or alternative styling in the midsize sedan segment, which helped propel the Sonata to be a huge sales success. Expect Hyundai to continue its curvy and edgy styling when the revamped model debuts in late 2013 or early 2014.
