Hyundai is in the midst of revamping its lineup both here and abroad, and the latest evidence of that transformation will be laid out on the stages of the fast-approaching Paris Motor Show. Hyundai will have no less than six new models at the Paris show, with the highlight being the company’s all-new i20 hatchback.
Designed at Hyundai´s European Design Centre in Russelsheim, Germany, the i20 is set to replace the Getz. Although the i20 will replace the Getz, it will actually ride on a longer wheelbase than the outgoing model.
Thanks to its European roots, the i20 is actually a quite attractive subcompact without the bargain basement looks of most economy cars.
Although the i20 will be in European showrooms by the end of 2008, there are no plans to bring it Stateside.
Hyundai will also show off an even more economical version of the i20 at the Paris show, dubbed the i20 blue. The i20 blue will sport a number of changes from the standard car, including full-length under floor covers, revised front and rear aerodynamics, a lower ride height and low rolling resistance tires.
Add in a 1.4L diesel powerplant and a six-speed manual transmission and the i20 blue should be good for 60+ mpg.
Hyundai also plans to show a Santa Fe Hybrid concept at the Paris show, along with its new Veracruz-based ix55 SUV.
Check back for more details and live images from the Paris show on October 2nd and 3rd.

If it’s better than a Getz, it’ll sell well, trust me. They’ve sold tens of thousands of these in the Caribbean, everyone wants one.
