Hyundai is preparing to unveil a new C-segment concept car at the Paris Motor Show later this month, the company announced today. Developed for the European market, the car is known by either the FD or Arnejs name. The car is a platform mate to the 2007 Kia Cee’d. It is designed to compete with the Volkswagen Golf and other popular hatchbacks.

why are all hatch concepts lately been using that stretched, half wagon appearance and that C pillar design? The VW Iroc concept also has a similar sillouhet, even though it was probably longer. The new designs have to grow on me… I don’t like them but they are probably more functional than the current tiny hatchbacks.

What we can see: Citroën C4 + Audi A3 Sportback + Mazda3… Very original.
And Arnejs and Cee´d are horrible names.

I see a car with good potential. The recent acknowledgement from the auto world that Hyundai’s quality is far higher than most believe is just what they need.

I won’t write about quality with respect to this model but I think it looks better than Volk’s Golf.

Better execution than the ugly upcoming Veracruz. What is up with Hyundai designs? They sometimes make a nice splash with the Santa Fe and came crashing down on the ugly Veracruz and now they come up with this nice design for an upcoming hatch. If only Hyundai design is cohesive, they might sell even more cars than they are currently are doing. Maybe they should hire a global design chief to oversee all Hyundai designs preferably from its best design center in Europe.

Carnut4ever : If only the car designs Hyundai copies / steals were more consistant. The Santa Fe steals many design details from the Infiniti FX. The front looks closer to the FX than their previous Santa Fe.
