Ugly, cheap and flimsy and likely to be as unreliable and poorly built as your typical import. Buy A Chevy Equinox or GMC Terrain if you want the best in this class. It is unpatriotic and unAmerican to drive an import.

you can see everywhere they ruined the design on this thing (compared to the euro one)
Switched to square fog lamps,
switched from open black vents around the fog lamps to body color panels (gross)
U.S. spec headlamps (always a bummer),
stupid body color slats behind the grille
and it looks like the shaped the bar across the grille differently.
Quit adding body colored crap where it’s not needed. Some contrast is always nice. No, we don’t want all the black plastic bull**** of the Aztek, but christ, you should know what to do.

I don’t know about the ‘NEW’ generation domestics. Last time I looked, the Daewoo Tosca taxi had better interior than 2010 Ford Mustang GT that cost $30k. The whole interior of Mustang felt like cheap crap, as if it didn’t belong inside an automobile.

I agree with iluvamcars… The lack of OBJECTIVE comments on this board is ridiculous. The new generation domestics are now competitive, if not superior to the competition. I for one just bought a Buick. I bought it because it’s a fantastic vehicle, and as an American, they’ve finally given me a reason to buy. Give credit where credit is due.

I’m going to agree with F50 and give the Journey my umpteenth plug. I’ll take a well optioned example with the 3.5, Awd and 6 spd auto over whatever powertrain they throw in this Hyundai simply because I would not be embarrassed to be seen behind the wheel. The Dodge looks good. This Tucson does not. And I’m way too old for a sex change.

yea, how did GM get brought in to this discussion? it went from a Hyundai article to a American cars suck article vs Toyota. I’m have to agree with iluvamcars for the most part.

as for the Hyundai witch this is about, should be another good car for the money, as for the design i think it looks better then the old but not great by any means, it kinda looks squashed or something or pulled back and up.

and why did they put new pictures up that are exactly the same?

Mocha and Foreign need to shut up. Foreign, they killed Pontiac because it was easier. Pontiac had little excitement. Most of their products were rebadged, and the brand was sold in only a few countries. Buick has a unique lineup, its established in many countries, and it is a massive success in China. The move GM with that is logical. Your comments are quite ridiculous! Mocha, have you seen the lineup? How can you sit there and say GM has no exciting cars while Toyota’s lineup is just as boring? The Cruze, Spark, Malibu, Corvette, Camaro, Equinox, Traverse, Silverado, CTS, SRX, Escalade, Lacrosse, Enclave, and even the Terrain are exciting. The Equinox is not a copy. Mpst of GM’s lineup is made up of reliable products. The GM of the 90’s used cheap plastics, but they made great engines, and still do. I support Toyota too, but it drives me insane when people are immature enough to bash American car companies and only praise foreign carmakers. QUIT CALLING THEM GOVERNMENT MOTORS. They are competing. ALL OF YOU ARE STUPID. GM WAS AFFECTED WORSE BECAUSE THEY ARE AN AMERICAN COMPANY, AND AMERICA WAS HIT HARDEST BY THE ECONOMY FIRST. I think the imports are more patriotic to America than domestics itself. Imports makes better cars in our market. Domestics don’t. I I am a patriot, I work hard for what I earn. Equinox is a nice try but look at it, just look at it………………..
From how many different angles do you see designs of the imports.
As always Obama Motors does a half way decent design attempt on the front end and profile but they forget the entire rear end.

GM thought we were lambs, the SUV, PICKUP milking had to end.
Now make it and we will buy it.

Now, to be fair to Hyundai fans I think the Terrain in a dog also.

The Equinox, however, is the looker of the class. Best CUV going, IMO.

If the Terrain had fender flares like the former Envoy or older Nissan/Datsun Hardbodies it would have a real shot at success….same with this Hyundai. Why put such huge exagerated curves on it. That instantly dates the design.

The Terrain would be nice without those aweful squared-off wheel arches. They haven’t done that on a car in a long time and for good reason. Just another example of GM nonsense. Why have the GMC Terrain AND the Cehvy Equinox. They are the same vehicle that accomplish the same thing. They don’t even cost different. There is nothing that sets them apart except the sheet metal.

Tornado. We are done with this immature level! Why egg him on? You very well know GM has improved. We shifted away from the whole american cars being produced in Canada thing. The percentage of american cars made in america is HIGHER than American cars made in foreign countries!

Anyway! I am not appreciating the styling. Hyundai is creating a great theme, but these slopes and gorgeous lines do not work on crossovers. A lot of crossovers are more square-ish, to only a very small degree, however. “My opinion.”

Too bad the Japanese public won’t be able to see this at their auto show. But then agaIn they may be thankful they can’t. Lots of different design elements that separately, might have worked well on other vehicles but together here are overkill.

when I look at the direct front photo, I can’t help thinking the truck fell on top or another vehicle and squashed it. It looks disjointed.

@ NMOFGM – It is also un-human to spend the same money for an inferior product. I DO NOT like Hyundai but GM is no better. Whereas GM has been getting worse over the years, Hyundai has not. They are actually making huge changes in their cars and the last thing to change will be their reputation, however they are making progress. If you HAVE to buy American, buy a Ford. If you don’t HAVE to (i.e. DON’T work for them and receive a GIANT incentive to do so = 99% of the population), then buy something else.
Also, and I know your posts are uselss, I did want to point out that many of your precious “AMERICAN” cars are built in either Mexico or Canada. Oh, and don’t forget to stop by Walmart on your way home, in your AMERICAN car, and buy $100 worth of Chinese, Tawainese, and Indonesian SH!T. Is there anything more typical. great new suv from hyundai. great mpg and it will have class leading safety and technology. the new equinox will also be a great offering from gm. but, a little over priced for this segment of smaller suv’s. i actually drove the new terrain over the weekend. it was nice. but, the steering was a too heavy and so was the price tag. it was a loaded terrain for over $36,000 . that is way to much money for that product. i do agree that we need to buy american product. but, the terrain is a waste of money and has a crappy exterior styling.
