Those considering a new Hyundai Veloster Turbo with optional matte paint should be prepared to put in a little extra elbow grease. Hyundai has outlined the appropriate maintenance routine for the unique paint finish, which includes plenty of hand-washing details.

Paint care typically takes up a page or two in the owner's manual, but in the case of the Veloster Turbo with silver matte paint, the car comes with an 11-page handbook dedicated to the care of the paint finish. Hyundai is also throwing in a wash pad and microfiber towels.

As you might expect with a paint finish delicate enough to require its own manual, Hyundai doesn't recommend sending the Veloster Turbo through a machine car wash. Instead, Hyundai says the Veloster's matte paint should be washed by hand and wiped down with Windex between baths.

"It's not for everybody, but those who really want it will want to hand wash their car," Brandon Ramirez, Hyundai Motor America senior group manager for product planning, told Inside Line.

The Hyundai Veloster Turbo will arrive on dealer lots next month with a starting price of $22,725, with the matte paint option adding another $1,000 to the bottom line. Although a labor intensive finish, we're sure plenty of Veloster buyers will think the sleek look of matte paint is well worth the effort.
