Nearly 45,000 unionized workers at Hyundai's South Korean assembly plants have resumed a walkout on Wednesday because they didn't come to an agreement with management. In contention are wages and a night shift that the workers maintain is dangerous.

The organized walkouts will also take place between August 8 and 17 at three Hyundai factories in Ulsan, Asan, and Jeonju, the Detroit Free Press reported. Those at Kia plants that are owned by Hyundai will also reportedly walk out as a way to show support and add more pressure on the government.

Hyundai went on record about the strikes, stating that they will harm not only the workers themselves but Hyundai customers and the company. The walkout has also interrupted negotiations at a critical point, the company stated, calling it counterproductive.

There are also separate walkouts planned at GM Korea, the country's third-largest car manufacturer.
