Geneva LIVE: Hyundai Kona Electric

The Euro-spec EV will be available with two different powertrains and a range of nearly 300 miles.

Hyundai has introduced its all-new Kona Electric at the Geneva Auto Show.

The subcompact EV will be available with two different powertrain options with a maximum output of 201 horsepower and 291 pound-feet of torque, achieving acceleration of 7.6 seconds from zero to 62 mph.

A 39.2-kilowatt-hour battery pack is claimed to offer 186 miles of electric range, according to the WLTP cycle, while the long-range 64-kWh variant boasts 292 miles on a single charge.

Aside from its all-electric drive system, the Kona Electric is distinguished by a few unique exterior design cues including a closed grille. On the inside, paddles behind the steering wheel adjust the regenerative braking settings.

Hyundai has not announced plans to bring the Kona Electric to US showrooms.
