Hyundai planning second design-led concept

We\'ll see the concept by the end of the year.

The Hyundai Le Fil Rouge concept introduced last March at the Geneva auto show was the first in a series of stylish design studies, the company has announced.

The Le Fil Rouge (pictured) took the form of a four-door coupe. Hyundai design boss Sang-up Lee confirmed the brand will keep the momentum going with a second concept scheduled to break cover by the end of the year.

"You have a king, queen, bishop, knight - they're all different, but they become a team when they're all together. This is our strategy. I call it a Hyundai look, not a family look," Lee told British magazine Autocar.

He called the Le Fil Rouge concept the queen. The next concept will embody the bishop, though he stopped short of revealing what form it will take. Like its sedan counterpart, it will draw inspiration from Hyundai's recent "sensuous sportiness" design language.

Hyundai remains committed to steering well clear of the so-called Russian doll approach to car styling many auto-makers have adopted in recent years. Above all, it wants to build cars with a more emotional design.

"We're known for good, practical cars and value for money but we really want to add emotional value on top of that, as a quality booster. It's important for our next step," he added. While we don't know when we'll see Hyundai's next concept, it's reasonable to assume it will make its debut at either the Paris auto show or the Los Angeles auto show.
