Hyundai RN30 previews first N-performance division car

Hyundai\'s wild concept has rally car guts.

Hyundai has revealed a new concept previewing the first car to emerge from its N-performance division.

They Hyundai RN30 Concept is said to preview the upcoming i30N, a hot hatch based on the new i30 just revealed at the Paris Motor Show. The looks is aggressive, equipped with every aero aid in the book, from massive flares to air dams, huge rear diffuser to gaping cooling vents on the hood. It's so 'roided up, even the C-pillar appears to have split and mutated into a spoiler.

However, the RN30 has the muscle to back up its mean looks. Underhood is a turbocharged mill churning out 374-horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque from the 2.0-liter based on Hyundai's latest WRC cars. Other race car cues include a gutted rear half replaced with a roll cage, a ceramic exhaust, and many of its panels made of out a lightweight composite developed with BASF.

The i30N will be the first of the high-performance N-division cars, named after the Namyang R&D center in South Korea. It's scheduled to debut either in late 2016 or early 2017, but sadly won't be coming to the US. Instead, we will get the second N-division car a sporty crossover.
