To say the least, August was an interesting month. Almost across the board – with the exception of luxury automakers – sales were down thanks to what Leftlane is terming “clunkeritis.”

The biggest declines came from mainstream automakers who saw unprecedented sales last August, but the biggest surprise might be that no Detroit-badged car showed up in the top ten for last month. Ford , Chevrolet and Ram (nee Dodge ) all had strong truck showings, but their cars were bumped out by Japanese and Korean models.

Hyundai ’s hot-selling Sonata jumped up to sixth place, the best position ever for a Korean car.

Check out the results here – and don’t forget to compare them to last month.

1. Ford F-Series 47,652
2. Chevrolet Silverado – 34,084
3. Toyota Camry 30,764
