Last September, the Infiniti M Hybrid was certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the “world’s fastest accelerating full hybrid.”

In an attempt to prove its superiority, Infiniti has staged a drag race, pitting the Porsche Panamera S Hybrid against the M Hybrid.

A U.S.-spec Infiniti M Hybrid is powered by a 3.5 liter V6 engine rated at 302 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 67 horsepower (50 kilowatt) electric motor. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a seven-speed transmission.

By comparison, the Porsche Panamera S Hybrid has a 3.0 supercharged V6 that churns out 333 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque, and a 47 horsepower (34 kilowatt) electric motor. Power is sent to the rear wheels by an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission.

Infiniti claims that the M Hybrid can accelerate from zero to 62 miles per hour in just 5.5 seconds. Porsche claims the Panamera S Hybrid will do the same in 6 seconds flat. However, performance figures given by manufacturers sometimes come out different when tested in real-world situations.

But on the mini silver screen, the M Hybrid maintains its performance dominance over the Panamera S Hybrid. Infiniti failed to mention the exact length of the drag race, but notes the M Hybrid is capable of covering the quarter mile is a brisk 13.41 seconds, which is apparently a few tenths quicker than the Panamera S Hybrid.
