Paris preview: Infiniti FX37

09/12/2008, 8:53 AM

By Andrew Ganz

Infiniti is set to unveil the newest version of its V6-powered FX crossover at next month’s Paris Motor Show. Infiniti, a new brand for Europe, will also mark its entry into the French market the same week by opening a retail outlet on Paris’ Avenue de Versailles. For the European market, the FX37 will be available in two variants: FX37 GT and FX37S.

Standard on both will be a 330-horsepower V6, capable of sprinting to 62 miles per hour in 6.8 seconds and continuing on to a top speed of 145 miles per hour. The GT includes 20 inch alloy wheels, Infiniti’s “Scratch Shield” scrape-resistant paint, all-wheel-drive, a seven-speed automatic with paddle shifters, leather, ventilated seats, Xenon cornering headlamps, parking camera and parking sensors. The FX37S adds 21 inch wheels, Continuous Damping Control suspension and sport seats to the mix. Though Infiniti hasn’t priced the FX37 for the North American market yet – where it is expected to arrive as a 2010 model – it has released European market pricing, starting from €55,950.

In June, Infiniti launched the updated FX in North America in V6 FX35 and new V8 FX50 variants, both of which we tested in April.

Make sure to check back here in early October for Leftlane’s full live coverage of the Paris Motor Show.

About time Europe gets Infiniti. Infiniti was alwasy hiding under the Nissan brand.

ALSO, the FX looks ALOT better than it did before.

I wouldn’t say it’s the ugliest front end, but it does look like someone drove it into a wall. Why is it so flat? the previous models proportions were much sexier. I like the lines though.

Got Handling?

The front is hideous, but I like the rest of the car more than the first one. But as with the G35 coupé, the previous model was far better looking overall

Looks way radical and different than the other crop….way better than the horrible MDX and Pilot….. thanks Infiniti for being different in the over crowded market :)

Why cant we get the FX37? It sits nicely between the 3.5 V6 and the honking huge 5.0 V8 that nobody wants. Not with $4.25 a gallon premium in San Francisco. Now if they’d throw in a 6 speed manual, this FX37 would be near perfect. If Porsche can in the Cayenne GTS, why can’t Infiniti? It looks more brutish than ugly- and that’s okay.
