Infiniti has revealed its 2009 G37 Sedan and EX37 crossover for the European market. While we haven’t heard definitively yet, it appears the G37 Sedan and EX37 will be sold in Europe only, rather than replacing the G35 Sedan and EX35 in the United States.
The G37 Sedan and EX35 have the same engine as the popular G37 Coupe sold here in North America. The difference is the motor has been detuned from 330 horsepower to 306. As a result, the G37 Sedan bound for Europe is pretty much equal in performance to the 3.5-liter G35 Sedan sold in America. Interestingly, the G37 Sedan actually has less torque than its G35 counterpart — 258 pound-feet instead of 270.
The EX37, meanwhile, is slightly superior than the EX35 in terms of horsepower and torque — 306 hp versus 297 horsepower, and 258 pound-feet versus 253 lb-ft.
As mentioned above, it’s not known if the U.S. will get these revised models for the 2009 model year (or later), but recent rumors suggest Infiniti will stick with the 3.5-liter V6 for the North American models.

Why are the Japanese manufactuer’s all EXACTLY matching hp numbers? IS350: 306 hp, G35/37 306 hp. Camry V6: 268, Accord: 268hp…the Altima thought it was special with 270 hp. Sorta find it odd. The gentlemen’s agreement went out the window a long time ago.

Please bring the G37 sedan state side. Then the price of used G35s will drop and I can go out and buy one.

With no Diesel engines, they won’t sell here. Just like lexus, except the IS220d

Well eventually they will replace the aging 3.5L V6. Obviously the new Z will be dubbed the 370Z and I hear that the M will have the 3.7L engine, same goes for the FX…let’s say that this engine will be in almost any nissan/infiniti product. For Kaizen: that is a funny comment…i just love it!

The G is a great car. I’ve driven the G35 sedan here in the states, and it was great. Not quite a 335i though I might add.

Odd that Europe would get a larger engine than the US

i don’t think Infiniti will crack “Fortress” Europe. We have Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Jaguar right here, why on earth would anybody buy an Infiniti?
Plus: No diesels and no image.
Most buyers are conservative, they wouldn’t even buy a Phaeton, even though everybody knows how much VW is obsessed with quality (I’ve heard it’s different in the US) and that they run Audi so they have the same ressources..
If Lexus can’t do it (the only reason they enjoy moderate success is the damn hybrid) then Infiniti definetely can’t.

LP I don’t think so Infiniti has alot of Good things going for it. This car can step it up a notch or too. but I would definitely buy it over a Cadillac. Now a Lincoln I would perfer over the two if Mulally give Lincoln the Go ahead on upcoming projects

^^ Jaguar? Don’t you mean Ford, or even worse, Tata? And the bad thing is, Jagaur’s quality and reliability actually IMPROVED in the hands of Ford …
I would never touch one …

I am pretty sure those cars will see Europe with Renault diesels under the hood. Furthermore, I bet that diesels will be upgraded to higher out put then standard ones. Renault does not have near luxury image even in France. This may be it.

They’ll probably stick to the current engine due to the lower gas consumption and the lower powered competition in the US.

To understand Infiniti’s success in the US is to realize that some people want an alternative. Upscale performance and style for us is either BMW or Infiniti. So if we don’t want to overspend buying the ubiquitous 3-series, then the G35 is the logical choice.
