So it’ll not only be a run of the mill POS unreliable Nissan, but it’ll be an unreliable hybrid with an even more expensive pricetag built by the japs? What a joke.

Even with the idiotic, economically ridiculous hybrid powertrain, Cadillac will have nothing to fear. Quality and reliabillity go a longer way than an overcomplex unreliable powertrain to save .2 mpg. Everyone would rather drive an American vehicle anyways.

Infiniti needs to make an Essence 4-door to replace the Q
Build it in the image of the Maserati Quattroporte
Not a volume luxury sedan, but a style niche 5k a year type car
And the Essence should get a lot of GT-R power and technology, but keep the sexy skin, and charge $95k

I’d love the idea of a hybrid G37. One of the best V6s ever, drop-dead sexy looks, superb BMW-crushing performance, and 30+ mpg? Sign me up! Although a Z version would be even better.

jakek66- I’ve heard rumours of that but we had a preproduction Camaro SS with some head-honcho from GM out at our dealership the other day, he said 2 years for the production convertible to be out. I won’t name names but he’s a reliable source.

Back to Infiniti talk- I have high hopes for this model, the M is already a stellar car and I think adding a Hybrid model will solve it’s only real drawback- mpg.

JakeK, It’s true. I may have read that in the Car & Driver April issue but I know I saw it somewhere.

bigjimid, this is going to be Nissan’s own tech. Should be interesting to see how performance oriented it turns out to be given their reputation for leaning in that direction.

Instead of borrowing Toyota’s hybrid technology, they should come up with their own. How about develop an electric hybrid like Chevy. Something that doesn’t require fuel to charge.

as for Cadillac not having to worry… they wont have to, with the Converj, the Escalade will be gone soon (or atleast the size it is now) and if they do bring in a car below the CTS it will probably have a 30+MPG engine, and i bet the next gen CTS will have a hybrid model

get rid of the weird lines on the sidepane window, and you got a hit at your hand… i really DO like this car… lots just the way a classic GT ought to look like (and that from a company that actually has no history making GTs)
