Comments on: Infiniti planning 2007 G37, M37, FX37?

I still want to see the engine specifics. It’s between the 07 BMW 335i or 07 Infiniti G35. It’ll come down to the test drive. I have an 01 330Ci right now…I just don’t want to get a 07 G35 then in 08 they come out with a G37.

Are we sure any hopes for a 3.7liter engine is gone? Can they compete with the new 335?

This is the G. And there will be a 4.7 litre engine too for the V8 cars. So there might ve a 470Z to compete with the upcoming V8 Supra.

I’m pretty sure the 2006 330i pulls about .90 G’s as well.

Swap in some meatier rubber or a stiffer suspension, and you’ve got a pretty good performance increase on the 330i.

So tell me, Mookie… can you “mod” your G35′s curb weight or the chassis’ weight distribution? Not easily.

^ Please don’t confuse handling and Skidpad ratings, but certainly .90g is always very respectable; also rolling stock makes a large difference here.

My G35 Coupe does 0.90 Gs stock. Besting the Z. How does the 330 compare? Of course there are other areas of handling.

Jsp you know what speak loudly? Nissan VQ always won Ward’s Top Ten Best engine. That’s right since the award was created Nissan won every one of them.

I’m sure BMW handling is probably the bench mark but Nissan is always about performance they’ll be near it or so.

The M just came out. It’s too early to come out with another M man. That concept body has G written all over it. I saw all of the pictures it’s just a G with new headlights. I’m sure there are many revisions and stuff but it’s definately a G.

The only reason the IS350 beat 315 horse power is the Direct Injection. If you incorporate that technology to the VQ engine you know that the VQ engine is the superior v6 engine. Heck it didn’t beat Ward Engine award every year for nothing.

But I’m sure toyota having a huge amount of resources can beat Nissan if they actually take off their glove. But it wouldn’t be cost effective though.

… so they need 3.7 liters to compete with others’ 3.5 and 3.0 turbo? Reminds me of the Viper that grew from 8.0 to 8.3L so they could achieve 500 HP. Doesn’t speak loudly for engineering excellence to me.

We can hope for a 3.7 liter V8 but that’s extremely doubtful so look for a revised version of the current VQ (to save cost of development and manufacturing), but if the specific output stays about the same, we’ll be looking at an IS350-beating 315 or so horsepower, with the new BMW 335 we’re going to have some nice competition in this segment!
