Infiniti previews Project Black S prototype for Paris debut

The prototype does not stray far from the concept that debuted early last year.

Infiniti has previewed the Project Black S prototype, slated to make its first public appearance in Paris.

The prototype appears to stay close to the concept that was revealed last year in Geneva. A few yellow accents are the only clear changes from the show car to the test vehicle.

Employing hybrid technology inspired by Formula One racers, the Project Black boasts a combined 563 horsepower from Infiniti's VR30 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 and kinetic energy recovery system. The company says the car can launch to 62 mph in less than four seconds.

The concept and prototype feature bold styling with air vents on the hood, pronounced creases and curves, and a large rear wing.

The prototype will make its formal debut on October 1.
