Innovation unlikely to suffer under Chrysler restructuring

Job cuts in DaimlerChrysler’s research and development division will be below the average for the company as a whole, according to a representative, speaking in an interview with Reuters. According to the U.K.’s Just-Auto, Weber said that the DaimlerChrysler R&D organiZation may employ fewer people in the future than it does now, but that is not the main issue. The main idea is to save money by sharing components that customers will never detect, while maintaining the brands’ own identities. In January, DaimlerChrysler unveiled a “new management model” that would result in the axing of 6,000 administration jobs.

I think DCX is doing what is best for them. Ford and GM have a whole other set of issues. They could still use some good products and less UAW.
