Jonathan Ive, the man credited with creating the groundbreaking industrial designs of the iMac and iPod, leads a relatively humble life for a man who is surely worth millions. But he does have at least one concession to luxury – an Aston Martin. No doubt Ive admires his Aston for its incredible design rather than its price tag. Ive feels most products today are designed with little thought. “It’s sad and frustrating that we are surrounded by products that seem to testify to a complete lack of care.” Clearly the British carmaker’s stunning design language strikes a chord with Ive, which means a lot for a man who the Telegraph calls “the most important British industrial designer of our time.” Last month, Apple CEO Steve Jobs shared his thoughts on design in the car industry: “You know how you see a show car, and it’s really cool, and then four years later you see the production car, and it sucks? And you go, What happened?”
