Tony Stark is the quintessential playboy and super hero, and so far in his two recent Iron Man movies this super star has enjoyed driving an Audi R8 super car. That’s about to change.
For the next movie to include Iron Man (which will actually be known as The Avengers and not a direct sequel in the Iron Man series), Tony Stark will be trading in his Audi R8 keys for an Acura supercar sans roof, according to some shots snapped by fans on scene of a recent filming.
The pictures found on SuperHeroHype show a car that has definitely never been seen before – at least not in that form. It is actually oddly similar to the R8 it is displacing in Stark’s garage, but some speculate it is either based on a previous generation NSX with new sheetmetal for the movie’s sake, or possibly a hint at a future NSX yet to arrive.
The folks at Autoblog reached out to Audi to ask exactly what we were looking at here, to which Acura responded and said that the car is a one-off example made exclusively for the movie – but then concluded with this gem of a hint, “That said, as you may also know, our CEO has said publicly that we are studying the development of a new sportscar, but we can’t say any more about it at this time.”
Given the pretty penny Acura no doubt had to hand over in order to give Audi the boot, it would seem foolish for the automaker not to produce something at least similar to this attractive car. Don’t be too surprised if Acura reveals an NSX successor in the relatively near future that shares lines with the car you see here.
