Is this the 2008 VW Golf VI?

Germany’s Autobild has a new computer rendering of the 2008 VW Golf. The images were created by Mr. Huckfeldt, who is known for creating accurate predictions of next-generation cars based on insider information. According to the report, the car is based on the same platform as the Golf V, but is refined in several ways. The design is said to be a mix between successful VW models and concepts, with an emphasis on making its appearance “exciting.” An R36 model is expected to be offered with 280 horsepower, the report said. Renderings: Front View, Rear View.

Once again, VW tries to make a more bland car to appeal to secretaries.

I highly doubt this is close to reality.

Yuck! It looks like an Audi, which in my opinion makes it ugly.

Funny, VW dealers are stocked up with 4th generation Golfs right now. The only 5th generation Golf to be seen is the GTI that just arrived last month…2+ years after 5th generation Golfs were widely available in Europe. Maybe VW will wait till 2011 for the 6th generation in the USA. VW must think Americans are nostalgic for obsolete body styles and yestertech.

“Funny, VW dealers are stocked up with 4th generation Golfs right now”. i too was wondering about this. vw is always slow to intro new models over here but i thought maybe because the new jetta is not too well received perhaps they’re trying to stick with the 4th generaion as long as possible. i did recently see a new white GTI waiting on lower broadway and it was turning almost every head. this was just north of soho nyc so that’s a lot of heads. and the very heads marketers dream of.

I drove the Euro spec Golf 5 in Europe over 1,5 years ago and while it is a nice driving car, its looks do nothing for me personally and I like the the old Golf 4 more (especially the R32). The single Golf 5 GTI I’ve seen here so far (brand new and totally stock), looked too high off the ground to be honest.

Is this an Audi or a VW? That grille has been taken from an Audi!

Couldn’t this possibly be the Audi replacement for the A2?
