Next week, Fiat luxury subsidiary Lancia is expected to unveil a new concept car to preview the forthcoming Lancia Delta HPE. An image purportedly of an official design illustration leaked online today. While we cannot confirm its authenticity, we’d be surprised if it was entirely fictional. Although it’s unlikely the car would ever find its ways to U.S. shores, we suspect our European readers and even design buffs here in North America will be interested to see what could be Lancia’s latest creation. Full image after the jump…

I had the privledge of driving a Delta HF that a friend of mine in Europe owns, AWESOME…Lancia here is a name that has been forgotten. Poor Fiat and their horrible world marketing I suppose, and the fact they did not want to try and compete in the US due to quality issues….didn’t wanna fix em I guess.
I think this Delta looks hot.

Pfft…Fiat luxury. Now that’s an oxymoron. This is one of the few Italian manufacturers which, quite simply, should cease to exist.

Lancia’s were always amazing cars. My favourite: The Stratos.

Its not a bad looking car, but it reminds me of a hypothetical lovechild between the Solstice and any Bimmer hat has a serious overbite.

Well, for motorsport purist this depiction of a possible Delta it’s pretty disappointing.
If this is what is supposed to pick up the heritage of the Lancia Delta HF (in its various versions) that dominated the World Rally Championship for five consecutive years (1987-1991), I think they are missing the objective.
I have been only once in a Delta HF 16 Integrale, it was the car of a friend of mine, and my God was it glued to tarmac or what ! Great acceleration too.
Shame on me, I didn’t wait for the 16v version to arrive and decided to buy a Sierra Cosworth…I still envy that buddy of mine for that Delta !
But this new thing…bah…don’t like it…

It doesn’t honor its heritage. I’m sick of retro designs, but this has no elements of the classic delta. No quad round headlights, no fender bulges, and I hate the current incarnation of the Lancia “shield” grille.
I like the look on my 76 Scorpion better.

Looks stunning especially in hatchback form. I wish they would go right ahead to production with this design, make it turbo all wheel drive but with better on road performance than the Japanese rally bred sedans. The new Integrale is born!

Isn’t this just about a different front end on the Ford of Europe’s IOS concept and thus hopefully what the next-gen Mondeo will look like?

Would it not be great for Lancia to pull off the sinister design language that is emerging in the car world? Audi is trending towards that, but I want to see Lancia do it first.

Undecided: The lancia Stratos was an awesome car. It ventures from common design of the time. When I first looked at it I thought it was some sort of Lamborghini because of the thin sharp design, aside from headlights.
I think it looks pretty good. I noticed most peoples opinions on this site are A OK about it. It’s nothing amazing, but it’s nicer than most other cars out there. Compare this to American products (of course this isn’t American… I am just stating an opinion) and in design terms, this is way ahead. In general most European cars are ahead in design terms of American cars, though they appeal to a different enviroment.

many lamborghinis are done by Gruppo Bertone (wiki article with list of cars designed by Bertone house: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bertone ) and so is the Lancia Stratos.. maybe that’s why they looks similar Jay.
Nothing amazing… but cool

Well it was about time somebody mentioned LANCIA in the news;) I think that the car is great, I only hope that they would change the front lights’ shape before they start producing.
