Meanwhile, Lutz and co. will let core brands like Pontiac and Buick limp along unsupported until they are so badly damaged they will need a revival as well.

Like I said, keep telling yourself that GM is fixing itself.

PLEASE - LIKE PONTIAC AND BUICK DON'T ALREADY NEED HELP. THERE'S NOT A STICK OF INDIVIDUALITY AMONG THEM. SAAB WILL GET THERE - IT WILL TAKE SOME TIME, JUST AS IN THE CASE OF CADILLAC WHICH COST BILLIONS TO TURN AROUND

They should cut the 9-5 out of the lineup and replace it with a new car. See, nobody knows about, nor does anyone give a shit about, the current 9-5, or even the last generation 9-5. It is an "alright" car that has been forgotten, a car living in the shadows of its competitors, and even those cars are unclear, as the 9-3/C-Class is obviously the BMW 3-series fighter, but the 9-5 is thousands less and doesn't come close to the 5-Series/E-Class. Just get a new model out there and promote it, let it be known that Saab has come up with a true midsize lux sport sedan competitor, one to compete with the 5-Series, E-Class, and A6 while the 9-3 takes on the 3-Series, C-Class, and A4

Even with GM still losing market share, GM still maintains itself as the number one car company in the world, selling the most cars globally.
GM is not exactly in critical need of fixing itself. Just some bandages to stabilize the bleeding will maintain the number one spot that it has today.

I agree that GM has horribly mismanaged Saab, and every other brand, they are in crisis mode now and maybe that will help them to fix themselves, maybe not. I would say that Saab has the best designers under the GM umbrella (I would guess left over from before saab was owned by GM). The 93 is a sweet design, nothing crazy like a ferrari but the form and details are great. The 95 has always been ugly (as the 9000 included) so it is sticking with tradition, this new rendering seems solid, the aero x has grown on me and this seems to be a copy of that.

Saab is a loser, has been for 15 years that GM has had interest in the brand. GM as a whole is far from a "revival", they are on life support. Too many brands, and still a dwindling share of the market. Sinking more money into a brand that hasn't made a profit for over a decade doesn't exactly give an impression of "Revival" rather a foolish waste of resources.

They blew the opportunity to build the brand when they limped along on two models for over a decade and then rather than add fresh product to the mix, decided to throw the typical GM badge job with a pathetic excuse for an SUV and a JAPANESE wagon with an ignition in the floor. The current 9-5 is on its eighth year and the 9-3 is in its 5th with no signs of a replacement until 2009.

Like the supposed revival of Saturn, I expect any chance of reviving Saab to its former glory days of the eighties will be met with lukewarm reception from non-GM fans. Meanwhile, Lutz and co. will let core brands like Pontiac and Buick limp along unsupported until they are so badly damaged they will need a revival as well.

Like I said, keep telling yourself that GM is fixing itself.

Yeah #6? You got something to add? Or just something to detract?

Anyway, I like. Looks like a jet. Glad to see cues from Aero-X concept making its way into production vehicles. Maybe once GM is back on its feet, we'll see an Aero-X supercar put into production!

But I have to disagree with the "instead of cardboard boxes" comment. I like the current Saabs. I like them a lot. They're sporty looking and fun. The convertibles are beautiful.

It's a huge leap over the portfolio SAAB has now... the AERO concept was porbably one of my favorite concept designs in a while... It does a nice job of getting the 'wrap around' effect though while having actual doors... I like the side window lines and the C-pillar/rear deck looks interesting... It'd look pretty tight with an 'invisible' B-pillar... just my thoughts...

This is one to watch.
