Jaguar Land Rover has announced that it will be shifting its North American headquarters from Irvine, California to northern New Jersey. The company already has support operations in northern New Jersey and the move will put Jaguar and Land Rover closer to their home bases in the UK.
The company will give all 50 of its permanent employees the opportunity to make the move, according to Automotive News.

“For some time now we have been looking at consolidating our organization as it makes perfect business sense to have Jaguar and Land Rover back at its original location in New Jersey as we already have an existing set-up and facilities there,” Mike O’Driscoll, the managing director for Jaguar, said.

In addition to gaining some extra communication time through changing time zones, the move will allow for shorter flight times between the company’s UK and Mumbai, India — the location of Jaguar Land Rover’s new owners, Tata Motors — HQs. Flights to London will now take four hours less while flights to Mumbai will be cut by eight hours, largely because a layover is not necessary.
