And then there were none: Jaguar, Land Rover to leave PAG California HQ

03/17/2008, 11:34 AM

By Drew Johnson

Earlier this month, Volvo announced that it would be moving its U.S. headquarters from Ford’s PAG office in Irvine, CA to Rockleigh, N.J., and it appears as though the remaining PAG brands — Jaguar and Land Rover — could be making similar moves.

According to Automotive News, Jaguar and Land Rover will likely be making the move to the East Coast shortly after their sale to India’s Tata Motors is finalized. The move would also give Jaguar and Land Rover’s U.S. HQ a few more overlapping work hours with the brands’ UK HQ.

Ford’s Premier Automotive Group moved into its Irvine, CA headquarters just seven years ago, and since then, all but one brand has been stripped from PAG — assuming the sale of Jaguar and Land Rover. When Ford originally established PAG, it included Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo and Lincoln. Since then, Ford has removed Lincoln from the PAG fold, sold Aston Martin, Jaguar and Land Rover, and is reported readying the sale of Volvo.

It was a great Idea that would have benefited ALL Ford’s luxury brands. Too bad they didn’t have the money to support all the groups.

BTW – this is the reason Lincoln is where it is today, It was put on the back burner to all the others and when it moved back to Dearborn, the product plans were YEARS behind and almost nonexistant!

Cal = idiot work ethic, idiot laws, idiot property taxes, and idiot business costs.

Here’s a hint to California: when in every year after 1998 more than 100% of all your new jobs were real estate related (meaning the net non-real estate job total was negative each year), then you hung your entire hat on the one industry that was destined to go bankrupt due to the excessive borrowing, plus your state’s population is so stupid as to pay for its lifestyle by borrowing instead of producing, so now your state is a ****hole. Who’d have guessed? Retards.

So we’ve got Volvo moving to Jersey alongside Bimmer and Benz, Porsche in Atlanta, VeeDub headed for New York, and now these British rejects in an undisclosed location. It’s official: Europe has moved to the East Coast.

This has nothing to do with California S o c i a l i s m and everything to do with Ford shutting down PAG and selling off Jaguar and Land Rover.
