Jaguar and Land Rover say that they plan to skip the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, an event that has become increasingly crucial to domestic automakers and decreasingly important to foreign brands.

Jaguar Land Rover, the North American arm of the Indian-owned British automaker, follows in the footsteps of Nissan, which has skipped Detroit for several years. Suzuki also announced recently that it will be missing both the Los Angeles and Detroit shows.

“This decision was driven by the fact that since our newest concept vehicles were featured at the Frankfurt show and will be featured at the upcoming Los Angeles show, we decided to show them next in the Delhi Show in January as part of our effort to build our brands in this growing market,” JLR’s Stuart Shor told Autoblog.

JLR debuted the Jaguar C-X16 and Land Rover DC100 concept cars in Frankfurt earlier this year. Both models will make their North American debut in Los Angeles later in November.
