Jaguar has announced that it will donate the first production XF to a charity auction set to be held on September 7. The auction, being held at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, England, will benefit the The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) with all proceeds going to the charity.
In addition to helping a worthy cause and owning the first production XF, the lucky winner will also be able to choose the color options for the car with advice from Jaguar’s head of design, Ian Callum, and will also be invited to the factory to see their XF being built. XF production is scheduled to start in the spring of 2008.

Very good image builder for Jaguar, although I don’t usually associate premium brands with charity.

Are you guys stupid? Who wouldn’t want to own the first XF? That car will bring good money. Jaguar makes fine automobiles. I’m sure the XF will be another fine example of British engineering as well. I will withhold my judgment until against it until I get to ride in or drive one. Until that time, the XF has my respect because it is still a Jaguar from Coventry.

admirable effort. and if the XF really does turn jaguar around, that car might be worth a lot more down the road.

Who says it has to turn the company around to be valuable? The Avanti was supposed to save Studebaker but didn’t and it’s the most popular Studebaker. Companies still sell Avanti knock-offs.

Knowing that landrover and jags are on the block, who would be stupid enough to buy one? To say nothing of their standings in quality control etc etc

Damn, some of you guys are bigots left in the dust of the past.
Noah…
Jaguar has had outstanding ratings for the past 5 years concerning quality and performance. The only problem Land Rover has had in quality is the Land Rover Range Rover Sport, and in some areas the Land Rover Discovery. Other than that, Land Rovers been on the fast track, with some of the most outstanding designs for an SUV, offroad prowess and a steady sorce of income.
How can you “guarentee” it won’t sell like Jaguar hopes? Has it been sold yet? NO.
I’m almost certain it will sell for more, it’s an amazing looking vehicle, and I’m sure even more amazing in person! And yes, even though it’s the first it won’t be different from the production vehicle, but the fact that it’s the first one is a big factor in these vehicles… just like the last vehicle.
Will you all agree with me that this is one of the most beautiful Jaguars produced in the last 10 years?

Alright then Noah…
Back up your statement on Jaguar and Land Rover. I already have acknoledged that the Land Rover Range Rover Sport and Land Rover Discovery have serious quality issues.
Concerning reliabilty for Jaguar, it’s been fair, nothing to brag about but nothing to give hot criticism for. Quality and performance for Jaguar has consistently ranked in the top 10 on JD Power and Associates since 2003.
I believe this car will do just as well on JD Power and Associates, if not better, but as of now it’s just speculations. All speculations aside, I don’t believe you have much to back up your “horse puckey”.

I saw people at Barrett-Jackson bid a Hummer that had been to Iraq over $1mil. It was for charity also so you never know what people will do for charity.
