Both Jaguar and Aston Martin need to find their way back home. It is only there and under the rightful country ownership will these marquees again be what they were intended to be.

- Piablo – so true. I know alot of these manufactuers are wowned one of the top three, but still does mean you can be diffrent and be orginal. VW still starting to look like a cheap Audi for example.

So I take it no one here feels challenged to think of Jag as daring and different? Challeneged at all?

Last I checked, Ford thought it’s customers were too ambivilent to care if their Jag looked like a Taurus or a Crown Vic knock off. I think they should really lay off challenging others and challenge themselves to come out with a car worthy of carrying the Jaguar name.

Is it just me or does this jag remind you of a Bugatti front end. The lining on the hood leading down to the center grill, remind me alot of the Bugatti. Still needs work, but then Jag never really were orginal in their designs.

Saw it some years back at an exhibition in Copenhagen and it sort of looked good. Small and quite compact, that said I’m not sure this is the new Jag, and had it been it should have been aluminium.

this is not the actual XF people…this is a concept car that jaguar relaesed some time ago!!!

it’s great that the brand is moving upmarket leaving room for volvo. with the X type dieng, this can be a CLS competior if done right, leaving the S80 for Eclass territory, although volvos still got a long way to go to compete with the germans.

S-Type should have been aluminium to really set jag apart from the rest of the luxury herd.

I would guess the S-type is goigng to be on its own platform or perhaps a shortened, steel version of the XJ8 platform.

i liked the the type-r s type. my father testdrove one of the first s-types. i was in the back at the time and i almost vomited from the ride. never really liked the car.

Jaguar really needs to differentiate from the rest of Ford’s vehicles, but in a good way. I’m not convinced this is the right approach.

Maybe is just me, but Jaguar should drop it entirely.

The S-type almost killed Jaguar.

The brand dilution combined with not so great engines require lots of repair work.

They can only improve on the S-Type. The outgoing car is an ungraceful pig. The only good thing about it is that the X-Type exists, making the S better by default.
