Even then, there was already a supercharged version. I think they are trying to introduce a new model to discontinue maybe the base model. All people are going to do is purchase this model and upgrade it to have more power, henceforth making the range topping XR irrelevant.

@ Tornado – Agreed. The news here is moreso that the “supercharged” gets a 50hp bump in power and remains the XF’s non-R flagship for the 2010 model year.

@mentir – Was not aware that they were “dropping” the supercharged model for 2010. That makes sense. So instead of “adding” a s/c model they are not getting rid of the pre-existing model. Increasing its size from 4.2L to 5.0L.

Even though this is news to some, to me, not knowing they were thinking of getting rid of the regular, non R, s/c model, this is not news at all. Just a modification.

Acura and BMW are certainly not “bottom feeders.” In the top ten for J.D powers Initial Quality study, 70% of the automakers were imports. Go suck it!

Tornado, you’re sort of right in that they offered a 2009 “supercharged” baged model.
When Jaguar shifted to the 2010 line-up, they initially did not have a ‘Supercharged’ badged model.

Initial 2009 USA line-up: XF 4.2, Premium XF 4.2, XF 4.2 S/C
Initial 2010 USA line-up: XF 4.2, XF Premium 5.0, XFR 5.0 S/C

So, technically, they are now adding a XF ‘Supercharged’ model for 2010.

So this is just an engine upgrade from the 4.2L Supercharged to a 5.0L Supercharged? That isn’t “adding a fourth model” but rather modifying an existing model. LLN is terrible at writing articles.

This car is already for sale and they have had an XF supercharged since the cars debut 2 years ago. I don’t think it’s news unless I am missing something. Am I missing something? This car already exists…
The XF comes in 3, soon to be 4, levels. Base, Premium, Supercharged, and now R.
I am really confused by this article.

Does anyone else have a basic knowledge of cars at all on here? How has no one caught this?

Johnny: absolutely. You take Nano to all you can eat Indian buffet and propel it with your own gases from it. It becomes supercharged hybrid (you need some gasoline to get to the buffet).

I’m from Europe, my dad have a new jaguar XF diesel, it’s gorgeus, better than mercs… the interior quality are better than mercs/auto union… I have an Q7 diesel…

whats the point? why this AND the xfr? i think they should have just kept the old supercharged 4.2L to fill the hole between the 4.2 and the supercharged 5.0, which would have eliminated the need for a fourth model

Buick and Cadillac. The XK is a relibillity and quality joke. Typical Jaguar garbage. They don’t even have a teaspoon worth of the respect they once had and they still produce nothing to compete with leaders like Cadillac. The CTS-V destroys this car, the G8 demolishes it, the STS-V will beat it and any V8 midsize sedan in GM’s stable will give it a good run for the money. This will compete with bottom feeders like BMW and Acura and Lexus while outdoing both of them in problems and time in the shop. Only Audi or Mercedes will have as many problems as this.
