Fittingly set to be launched at at the Moscow Motor Show later this month, Jaguar ’s heavily armored XJ Sentinel offers the British automaker’s highest level of discreet protection for discriminating clients.

Jaguar says that the XJ Sentinel is equipped to up to B7 levels of ballistic protection capable of protecting against 15 kg of TNT equivalent detonated within a close proximity to the sedan. In addition, it can withstand “substantial underfloor grenade protection.” Simply put, the XJ Sentinel is about as well-armored as a luxury vehicle can be.

The XJ Sentinel is constructed of high-strength steel backed by Kevlar, while the armored inner passenger cell was developed by Centigon, a global armoring specialist.

To go with the added armoring weight, the XJ Sentinel’s suspension has been upgraded and it features high-performance brakes from the standard XJ Supercharged. Jaguar says that the sedan, only offered with its mid-range 5.0-liter V8, can accelerate to 60 mph in a decent 9.7 seconds – not bad for a sedan weighing nearly 7,300 lbs.

Jaguar hasn’t released pricing or market availability for the XJ Sentinel, although it’s safe to say that it will be offered for a substantial premium over a standard XJ and that its primary markets will be developing nations.
