..so utterly disappointed!
Looks like an Audi and a Chrysler (first cousins) had a child. This is supposed to be a British luxury sedan. Wood, leather, comfort, power. Soft, quiet, strength. Warm touches enveloped in luxury. Exterior style that sets it apart from Teutonic angles. A Jaguar XJ? ..No, they don’t make those anymore..

These pictures give this car no justice at all. I’ve seen this car at the concourse this year and when it arrives in February, Mercedes, BMW and lexus has some catching up to do with the fit and finish of this truly fine example of what a Luxury sedan should be. From the premium leather used and the extensive hand polished wood all through out the interior to the TFT disply in lieu of gauges this car is a homerun and sets the stage for Jaguar to take the full size luxury sedan market to the next level…..

This addition to the Jaguar line, will take some getting used to. The rear is unique, but doesnt quite do it for me. If this is gonna be the flagship car for Jaguar, they maybe in the right direction. Im looking forward to what they may do to the XF.

Depite the critism I’m reading, it appears Jaguar has stepped back into the luxury performance car lead with the classic design of the the Jaguar XJ/XJR for 2010. I was a die-hard BMW man, but after exploring various luxury car webpsites, I’ve finally made my choice… and its unequivocally Jaguar XJ premium for me. For me, the beauty is in the details. Expressive lines, hand crafted stitching, the flowing excitement the interior brings and most of all, the left lane power it brings to bare. “Look out Mercedes and BMW a new cat is in town, and its name is Jaguar XJ premium.

I agree with the C-pillar comments: unnecessary as it spoils the roofline. However, the entire design is in keeping with Jaguar’s new style and it is growing on me. Mind you, I still love the sight of an old XJ. Why couldn’t they still carry that model on in limited numbers? Its a shame to see it die. Of course, when retro is back in again in 10-15 years, we’ll see it revived. Thank god it won’t be on a Taurus platform!

Bosley…the Porsche and Aston are 4-door coupes…this is a 5-passenger sedan. different markets. The Jaguar XJ has always been direct competition with the BMW 7-series and Mercedes S-class. would you tell the Germans the same thing?

It’s a saturated market. With the Porsche Panamera AND Aston Martin Rapide coming out, there aren’t alot of customers Jag will win over from these established brands (I believe). Not to mention Maserati is already in this segment too.

This car looks great. It is competitive on ALL levels, power, performance, price, size, luxury, amentities, EVERYTHING. As for the C-pillar; with some tinted windows, it would look great. I don’t know about you, but I have to tint the windows on every car I own. With that, or on a black car, you would have a better looking C-pillar setup.
As for the computerized gauges. They certainly are interesting but would have to see them in action to really form an opinion. I think it is a cool idea but being a bit different, may take some time to get used to.

Jake I 100% agree with u! That techno guage just cheapened this vehicle. A fine instrument cluster in a luxury car is like a piece of jewlery, a handcrafted and functional device… like a nice watch.

I don’t like the computer gauges. Most people look at computer screens all day, the last thing they want is to get in their car and look at another one. Guages are supposed to be works of art in cars like this – screens can be placed to the side of them or even inside the guages but aren’t supposed to BE the guages. It definately takes away from the feeling of a car.

Intruducing the new rapper delight ultimate video car. Can’t you just see Jay-Z driving this in the “Big Pimpin’” video? This car has lots of bling and a super stunning 1200 watt sound system. With that sort of luxury, this car is redefining its English name. I agree with everyone about the C-pillar, its growing on me, but in black, you wont have to worry about it standing out s much.

Just get it in black and not worry about the dang c-pillar.

Heck, why would you ever get a Jaguar in a NON-black? That’s the ONLY color to get. Like BMW…black. Mercedes…Silver.

There are just some cars that wear only ONE color well.

Seeing this car reminds me of what my initial reaction was in 2002 to seeing the new 745i and realizing it was replacing the best looking large car on the road. Only difference is that this time, the new version of this Jag is world’s better than what it’s replacing.

That interior is really striking… a little Buck Rogers, but REALLY nice. I do wonder about quality of materials used. If they went the Audi route, they’re golden. If not, well, it ain’t a Jag.

There seem to be a few odd lines on the exterior, but I like the overall look. It’s almost Citroen-like in that 3/4 shot taken from behind the car.

I’m very curious to see how this car’s presence will change in person vs. pictures.

Jaguar faithful, I’m afraid you’re going to have to hold on to those memories of the exquisitely beautiful models from the past because this thing’s a mess. From the front it looks looks like a Volvo and from the back it looks Chinese. I’m not sure what to say about the profile other than Buick might want to have a closer look.

It’s definitely not anything I would buy, but I think it has enough of a different character to help Jag erase their old stodgy image that was causing sales erosion. The inside looks very sleek and simple. I just can’t look at the two round middle air vents without thinking GMC Envoy though

whats with the “Chrysler” steering wheel airbag look?? The car does have some nice agressive lines though. The blackout on the rear pillar should be redesigned.

It’s an improvement, that’s for sure. It looks more special and worthy of it’s competition. I wouldn’t spend that kind of manoey on any car, let alone this one though.

I think I would rather take the s-class. This just doesnt carry the same image to me, especially with the orange turn signal on the front lights which look like that of the bmw 3-series!

I hate that blacked out pillar! They try to create the illusion of a wrap around window but they still have a huge piece of chrome trim between the rear and side glass. Looks like some ricer trying to black out his roof….

I have to admit, the rear decklid and fascia is much more striking and powerful compared to the official images! However, the blackout on the c-pillar does look a bit…. cheap…
