2009 Jaguar XK Convertible: One last look

01/08/2009, 10:34 AM

By Drew Johnson

Jaguar’s engineers must be out in bunches today — first our spy photographers spotted a nearly undisguised version of the company’s XKR refresh, and now we have some final images of the run-of-the-mill XK convertible. As with the XKR, the new XK is expected to debut at next week’s Detroit Auto Show.

Visual changes include a new front bumper with revised air intakes positioned below the headlights, plus a redesigned rear bumper with LED taillights. The changes will appear across the Jaguar line-up.

There will also be a new shark-fin antenna on the coupe’s deck lid. Previous versions featured a power-retractable antenna or rear-spoiler integrated unit.

While the engine line-up will remain relatively unchanged, the new XK / XKR range is likely to benefit from a stiffer suspension setup and recalibrated steering. The interior, meanwhile, will be fitted with Jaguar’s new drive-select transmission interface lifted from the XF sedan.

Trying too hard to be as desirable as a Vette. Sorry Faguar, no sale in this Country. We’ve already predicted you guys to go out of business.

You guys are pathetic. Jaguar sales are up, Tata is a strong group, and Jaguar has design, performance and everything it takes to reestablish itself as a successful luxury brand now.

Need more money for GM seems even more delusional than normal. With Jaguar posting growth in ‘08 and GM dropping 30%, I wonder who he should be worried about going out of business?

The good news is that No more money for GM will be able to pick that Vette up on the cheap when all warranties are voided out upon GM’s bankruptcy filing.

Why does it say the engines will not change much, when they are all getting changed in favour of a new 5.0L V8 & 3.0 V6 twin variable geometry turbo diesel!!!
Love the new front end, very agressive.
