Jaguar sets new speed record for electric boats [Video]

The Jaguar Vector Racing V20E reached nearly 89 mph on a UK lake.

Jaguar has helped set a new world speed record for all-electric boats.

The Jaguar Vector team partnered with Williams Advanced Engineering to create the V20E, a racing boat that borrows technology from Formula E electric race cars.

The V20E achieved an average speed of 88.61 mph across the two legs of a 1km course on Coniston Water, England, beating the existing record of 76.8 mph set in 2008.

The team hopes to break additional world and national speed records in the next 18 months.
