James Bond to drive Jaguar XF in Bond 22?

01/10/2007, 3:16 PM

By admin

James Bond will drive the Jaguar XF in the next 007 feature film, according to a report by Bond fansite MI6. Ford has a three-film, $100 million contract for product placements in the Bond movies, and has used the last two films to showcase its Aston Martin sports cars.

With Ford likely to sell Aston Martin to another company in the coming months, it will turn to Jaguar for the next Bond car. The Jag of choice will be the forthcoming XF sedan, according to the report. Ford previewed the car with the C-XF concept this week in Detroit. Testing of production prototypes has already begun, and the XF should be in showrooms by the time Bond 22 (working title) is in theaters (mid to late 2008).

That would be awesome IMO. Could you imagine that think with rocket launchers attached to the hood or sticking out of the grill?

haha… who’d of thought Bond would drive a 4 door?

Where’s the coupe version, this is nice, but I can’t help but imagine how much better it’d look with 2 less doors…

Sedans worked in the Transporter movies. I never wanted a 7-Series BMW until that movie came out. Then it was Banglized…

In the Bond books of the eighties by John Gardner, Bond drove a black three door Saab 900. Horrifying.

The Jaguar deal isn’t so bad in comparison, but four doors seems too daddy-o.

It’s sad that Ford would spend $100 million to put cars in three movies. Well, I guess it makes for more entertaining movies, but I’d like to see that money spent on their products and their employees (non union, of course), not their promotions. There’s only so much you can promote a mediocre car… not saying that the Jaguar XF will be mediocre, but pretty much anything out of Dearborn is below average.

Bond should stay in an Aston Martin, no Jags.

What ever he drives I suppose should be british, so Jag’s an ok choice. But for all it matters to me, he could drive a Morris Minor… I don’t care.

he ought to have an XKR-R or whatever theyre planning on making for their highest performance XK. Thats if he gets a jaguar. His car shouldnt have four doors. I hope whoever gets Aston gets the deal for the films after that. The one thing that pissed me off about the latest film was the lack of gadgets, so whatever he drives it better be jacked up with weapons.

hahaha A4… yeah, the car needs to have a scud missle launcher strapped to it or something haha. But good call on using an XKR-R. I had the same thought– if hes driving a Jag because he can’t drive an Aston, they should at least pic the closest thing Jag has to an Aston, which is the XK… but i was also thinking that even an XKR isn’t quite badass enough. I wonder if Jag will make an RR version of this XK? Perhaps it will be another concept car, like in the last Bond movie.

He should be driving a Corvette. Those miserable English cars break down more than they run. It’s about time Bond drove a decent reliable American made machine.

well he has to drive a ford.. so it wont be a corvette.

Andrew,
Are you implying that Jaguars are made in Dearborn? If that’s what your saying, Jaguar makes and designs their own vehicles. Funding comes from Ford If I recall.

And as far as the whole James bond in a four door…
In 1997 James bond drives a 7-series controlled by his phone(I believe, haven’t watched since that date so). Several other BMWs have been used including a Z8 and a Z4 in recent years. Not to mention Lotus’ and such.

Bond cannot drive an Jaguar XK-R since the bad guys drove them in one of the Bronson films. Four door cars are inappropriate for Bond since it implies that he would be chauffeuring passengers. There should be room only for James and his honey du jour.

As for Bond cars with missile launchers… the new films are moving away from being campy and unrealistic.

european_one,

I haven’t seen the recent movie with the new Bond character yet, but I’ve heard nothing but good reviews on him. I’ve heard people say he is the best 007 since Sean Connery from many different sources.
